The Ocotillo Wells Airport

I haven't seen an airport like this since the movie " The English Patient"... omg, I cannot imagine for a second trying to land on dirt !

I took her out and let her run around in the dog park for a bit, she loved it there.

Thanksgiving 2008

It was just me and my Sweet Hubby together for Thanksgiving, we arrived at our destination, and started on dinner. Greg BBQ'd a turkey outside while I prepared the
rest of dinner. Found our biggest bottle of cheap chardonnay and poured to our hearts content while the pitter patter of warm desert sprinkles danced on the roof our our RV.

The Drive to Borrego Springs Village

I love the desert landscape especially before or after a weather system passes over. The colors are so much more brilliant with the gray skies.

We like looking for little places out in the desert away from town, I laugh when I try to imagine what a fixer-upper this would be.... Looks like a 2 story outhouse.

We discovered these metal animal sculptures outside of Borrego Springs,CA. They are really quite large, I would
guess around 15ft. tall. There is a women standing next to one in the last photo for scale.

Along Box Canyon Road at Sunset

Painted Canyon

We left I-10 freeway from Mecca and headed east to the canyon past a vineyard and acres of citrus trees and maybe a little spinach. The road is good although it claims on for 4wd vehicles. You'll notice alot of washouts that happened in the past with the flash flooding in the area. Alot of soft shoulders to with deep loose sand. As you begin to go to enter the canyon there is an array of colorful mountains. Many look like heavy plaster encased with different tones of agate and granite rock. It's a very quiet spot, and the sun casts lovely shadows across the floor of the canyon and tall pillars of stone. You'll see remnants of campfire pits but no litter. I think it's going to become one of our favorite spots
here in the desert for camping.

This one of Keri Smith's books I'll be taking with me on our travels, its a fun little book that reminds you to stop and observe the small things around you, to collect, maybe document or perhaps just take notice of what you see around you depending on what your focus is for the day. She gives you little prompts to stir your creative energy.

Way Back When at 1000 Palms Oasis

This cool vintage photograph hangs in the main cabin which is built out of palm tree logs.

1000 Palms Oasis

Did someone say Mountain Lion ? I am the biggest chicken when it comes to wild animals, sure I want to invade their habitat
and experience the beauty of nature but I certainly don't want to end up as supper ... now are you suppose to play dead or fight for your life, I can't remember... my luck I'll do the opposite of what's recommended. I need to memorize the sign below that is posted I suppose.

Picking Blackberries with Our Daughter in Eugene, OR

Eugene, OR
Posted by Picasa

She is going to college in Oregon, this is her first year out on her own. Eugene is a very lush beautiful area, much different from her home with us in the desert. There were blackberry bushes growing all along the river banks behind her apartment. The biggest berries I've ever seen. Cottie our pug even enjoyed them.

Along the trail head to Terwilliger Hot Springs

Brittany & Eric took us here to the local Hot Springs. It is about a 10 minute hike back behind the falls. Beautiful trail, it looked like we stepped onto the set of the jungle book, very lush.

Our 2nd Home, Wheels included......

Brookings, OR
We couldn't have found a better couple to buy an RV from than my husband's parents. They have been traveling across the beautiful country side for many years now, I'm guessing about 15, starting out with a very small camp trailer then to a 5th wheel, and working up to this RV: a 40ft. Country Coach diesel pusher. It rides beautifully like you are on a big pillow, floating along and even provides and washer & dryer, lol.... We feel so fortunate and anxiously await the day when we can become full-time RV'ers as they did. In the meantime we're out for little jaunts here and there, this is a blog chronicling our beloved journies... hope you enjoy !
