Family Reunion in Chico- Sunday 7-31-2011

It was also my Father-in-laws Birthday. We drove the RV down from Mom and Dad's house. Brittany caught a flight home to Portland from Sacramento the next day. We drove home to Palm Springs the following day with Lily & Cottie.
The drive was fine other than running over an aluminum ladder that we simply could not dodge... I'll never forget the sound of it hitting the underside of the RV " KaBAMMMMMMM!!" not sure if the hummer we were pulling hit it too. Suprisingly we couldn't find any damage after checking our rig. I was pretty shaken over it, earlier on my way down Lisa & I just missed a large tool box that was sitting in our lane in San Bernadino on our way down. A man ran out in front of her motorhome and grabbed it in the nick of time, as we slammed on the brakes, I really thought we were going to go into a skid. It's hard telling what you'll find laying in the middle of a freeway lane in So. California. After that, I was ready to get off the freeway and out of the motorhome for a while... Too many unpleasant surprises, which we seem to have alot of lately with the RV.

Gramma Nettie's Memorial 7-30-2011

My beloved Grandmother passed on July 10, 2011 at 8:50pm in Fall River Mills, CA. my hometown. She was 98 years old.
I last time I spoke to her was on the 4th of July, our parting words to each other were I love you... She was so much a part of my life growing up, she meant the world to me. I'm so thankful to have had her as my Grandma.
My sister and I drove up North together to help family prepare for her memorial services at the Day Hall. It turned out really beautiful. We inflated approx. 200 balloons with helium and shared a balloon release with everyone who came in honor of a great woman. Brittany, my daughter filmed it in the video clip, it was a beautiful tribute to her, as the balloons rose up and floated away to the east, someone said "look she's going back to Lookout".

Disney's Light Show

We spent the evening watching the 2nd showing of the "World of Color" light show inside California Adventure Park. It was magnificent, brilliant colors, special effects and the energy of the water was amazing.

Disney's California Adventure Park

We spent a couple nights in Anaheim recently ringing in our daughter's 21st Birthday. Staying at the "Anaheim Resort RV Park" worked out great. They have a shuttle that leaves every 20 minutes to the Disney District which is approximately a mile and a half from the RV Park. It runs until around midnight. The office staff were very friendly, they allowed my sister to check in at 9:00am since the spot we reserved for her was vacant. Check in is normally at 1:00pm.

Morro Bay

Beautiful little coastal town close to Santa Barbara. The Red Trolly is a great way to get around town to the Morro Bay shopping district and to view Morro Bay Rock aka " My Es Vedra".

RVing at Lake Cahuilla

Spent part of last week at Lake Cahuilla, an ancient lake/reservoir on the South end of La Quinta in the Salton Trough. We stayed in the equestrian camping zone which is in a cove down a dusty road and a bit out of the way for group camping. We met a nice couple there with a few horses and listened to the trumpets play at sun down from the boy scout camp. One other large celebration was going that night, alot happy people out there! You must check out the great hiking trails, it's really beautiful in the morning.
